I WAS an English teacher, turned graduate library student, living back at home with my parents, hoping to become the world’s greatest librarian. Now, I work at an elementary school back in Pennsylvania and have an apartment close to Pittsburgh. Though I know I’ll never be a Joyce Valenza or Carrie Vottero, I hope to make my students love good stories. Reading is magic — a place where one can hide from the everyday ho-hum and fall in love with someone or some idea who/that can transport them to another world. I hope to be the resource that can lead students and others to discover these people, ideas and worlds.
Oh, and my cat, Gary — he’s the one who’s gotten me through. He loves to roll around on top of books as much as I love to read them. I found him in my yard, and well, it’s been love ever since.
